Library Services
Toy and Resource Lending Libraries are on site at the Progress Centre. Books, journals, video, DVD’s and pamphlets on child development, special needs, health, parenting and many other topics are available for loan. There’s also a parent lounge for parents to sit and explore the extensive resources and materials.
The Libraries are also available for access by partner service providers. We ask all Library Members to fill out a Loaner Policy Form and host their borrower information on file on our Library computer system. The Library Technician is ready & willing to help you find materials and sign out for use.
Designed to meet the needs of the families, the Resource Library is extensive and up-to-date. Topics range from information on specific conditions to play ideas, toilet training, to reference catalogues. There is also a video/DVD library and children’s books.
The Toy Library is available for you to borrow toys and equipment that can be used to support your child’s skill development through play. Parents may access the library through the community outreach services during home visits or may come to the centre itself.
There is a one month loan period for library materials. Contact the Library Technician at 423-2686 ext. 242, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Parent Information and Workshops
The Progress Centre offers a variety of Parent Information Sessions in our Multipurpose Room. Topics are frequently identified by parents and can vary from tips on toilet training to a parent panel on school transition to communication for families who have a child with special needs. Sessions may be facilitated by a staff member or a guest speaker. If the sessions take place during the day, child care may be offered in the playroom. We do not offer child care for evening sessions. Usually, there are no fees for the sessions.
Details on current Parent Information Sessions can be found in our newsletter, through your Early Interventionist, or under the Workshops tab of the website.
We also offer workshops to Early Childhood Educators or community members. Again, the topics vary according to input from our community partners and are established on a as needs or request basis. Information of these sessions can be found in our newsletter Progressions or are advertised through a flyer and on our events section of the website.
