Service Coordination

Working with Health Care Professionals

Early Interventionist work together with related health and support services in the community in order to facilitate the coordination of services. Many families access a range of resources and services for their family and child. This could include health professionals such as Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists and /or Clinic teams frequently hosted at the IWK Health Centre or through the Nova Scotia Hearing & Speech Centres. Community service providers could include Early Childhood Educators, recreation program instructors, family resource centre staff or community based health professionals.

Working with Families

The Early Interevntionists will work together with families and service providers to promote collaboration and a team approach in service delivery. The Early Interventionist is available to attend appointments such as physiotherapy, speech, or developmental assessments at the IWK Health Centre in order to help transfer specific activities form a clinic setting to the home and to assist with gathering information shared at the sessions.
