Our United Way of Halifax Region Partnership

The Progress Centre for Early Intervention is honoured to have a supportive relationship with the United Way of Halifax Region. The Progress Centre receives grant funds from the United Way to help support our playgroups, library, and resource sharing.

Since 2000, we have been fortunate to partner with the local United Way and through the Community Fund, Grant Impact Area “Helping Families and Young Children Thrive”, we have been able to hire consistent staff including our Playgroup Coordinator, our Library Technician, and our Resource Staff. Grants run for a 3 year time frame and our current grant is from 2008-2011. To see the impact of the United Way partnership, visit the Playgroup and Library Links.

We were offered an opportunity to apply for the GM/United Way Community Wheels Program and were one of the six fortunate agencies in HRM to receive a van for use by our families. The van is available to assist with transportation to Playgroups and various other activities. At this time, the future status of the Community Wheels Program is to be determined however we have been very grateful for this support to date.

During our involvement with the United Way, we have developed outcome measurements and report annually to this source as well as other funding sources. Recently, some of our outcomes were highlighted on the United Way 2008 Campaign Brochures. The United Way has supported attendance at annual “Gift of Giving” communication and public relations workshops for the non profit sector and we have gained valuable information from the many networking opportunities offered through the United Way’s Speakers Bureau. Progress Centre has been strengthened by our partnership with the United Way of Halifax Region and we are grateful for their continued support.
